"BrokenBoundaries - a permanent collection". Acquisitions 2007- 1997
The Gallery hosts 90 works of Contemporary Art, some of the most important of the city's collection which are the result of donations, deposits and acquisitions. The gallery proposes various exhibitions surrounding these works and others of different periods, some loaned to numerous important museums in the world, following its mandate of enhancing, valuing and diffusion of Palazzo Forti's rich and fascinating artistic patrimony.
Exhibited for the third time in a dynamic installation curated by Patrizia Nuzzo, three elements interact together: space, work and visitor. The contemporary art collection of the Gallery of Contemporary Art is presented as a consistent nucleus of works that that go from the 70's up until our times, through a plurality of expressive modes that demonstrate fully the complexities of the world of art.
Having overcome, broken, and freed the boundaries of art, its "trends" and "isms" have lost their sense. Now a plurality of forms, means, and languages enter into a relationship with the spaces that host them and take on new and original meanings, transferring themselves from the object to its container. For his or her part, the viewer is invited to have an open and receptive approach to the world evoked by these artists, and experience an exhibition that is both empathetic and cognitive.
Today, the Gallery continues its activity of experimentation with great consistency contributing to the function of the museum, as a place of research that enhances new ways of looking and as the space of dialogue between the visitor and the artwork. The last suggestive room of the exhibit confirms this idea of dialogue, as an ideal space for reflecting on all the ideas, visions and thoughts gathered through the rooms, allowing the public to intensify them through the consultation of a large selection of books, catalogues and magazines.
The Educational Department of Palazzo Forti continues with great success through art programs connected with the collection. Workshops, art laboratories, tours created specifically for adults and children encourage a creative and educational approach to contemporary art. New art rooms have been created in a bright and colourful way to receive young students and their teachers, curious to live a new adventure in the world of art.
